Clinical Effect of Formoterel(Atock^(®)) as a Bronchodilator in Obstructive Airway Disease

Abstract
|
|
|
Formoterol is a new selective 13, agonist with potent bronchodilating effect.
The clinical effect of formoterol was evaluated in 15 patients with obstructive airway disease. The pulmonary functions were evaluated before and after administration of foinioterol 80ug twice a day for 2 weeks.
Also the changes of subjective symptoms and objective signs of airway obstruction and the appearance of side effects were evaluated.
Significant increment in FVC and FEV1, was noted after fosnioterol
administration (p< 0.01) Subjective symptoms such as dyspnea and nocturnal sleep state were improved remarkably in 11 patients (73.1%). Objective physical sign such as wheezing was decreased remarkably in 12 patients (80%)
Clinically troublesome side effects were developed in only 1 patent (6.6%). We concluded that formoterol is an effective and safe
bronchodilator for patient with obstructive airway disease.
